the smell of garlic that haunted my hands pierced through heart of the spawns of the aswang of thoughts that populated my spirit. thanks to its pungent smell, the image of the puppy lying sideways on the street bathing in its own blood, was easily evaporated.

the weather outside the building bores the hell out of my guts. it gives me the impression that the wind sits still out there like a hungry, invisible cheetah waiting for its prey.

mango at 9

jay-ar gave me a smile instead of doing another attempt to crush my palm with his powerful high-five trademark. his spirit is usually drunk with the enthusiasm of a dozen kids, but on that particular afternoon devoid of clouds, he gave me an indian mango, looked at me in the eye and then smiled. it was one of those rare smiles from him that seemed to call for a deep contemplation.

my feet were travelling 20 kilometers per hour when i noticed jay-ar a few feet away sporting his perfectly combed hair, wearing a plain white t-shirt. he was walking towards me, going to the opposite direction. i assumed he was on his way to the main gate of the military camp to meet his mom. i, on the otherhand was rushing towards home, craving for a decent meal with indian mango slices for dessert.

together with his other younger siblings, jay-ar usually hangs around our apartment to watch tv. early in the morning, he would always knock at our door to watch cartoons or to hang out with me and my sister, in which he never fails to bring a couple of indian mangoes on each occassion. during evenings, at around 9pm, he would knock at our door to collect our trash for disposal. my dad gives him 5 pesos each night in return.

jay-ar and his family of 10 lives right below our apartment unit at the 4-storey government funded military camp building.

a block away from my destination, i saw a crowd of people flocking the parking area. perhaps there’s a music video shoot, a party or another local gang war. i saw huge ladders and fire trucks with blinding halogen lights in the afternoon. as i came closer, an atmosphere of gloom greeted me. there were faint sobs, repressed cries, and prolonged sighs. it was surreal. i never really got the picture until my sister caught me when i decided to walk upstairs.

“jay-ar was dead.” she said. “excuse me?” my mind performed a rebellion as images of jay-ar handling me an indian mango a while ago flashed back.

“he was there. i just saw him. he...he gave me this!” i showed her the mango.

“jay-ar and his friend were burned. they climbed the mango tree beside the gym and accidentally tapped on the high voltage electric wires as they reached for the mango fruits. me and his sister saw them burning up the tree.” she narrated.

my mind still refused to believe what happened until i went to his funeral at the baranggay hall. my sister told me that masking tapes were plastered around his neck to prevent it from falling. his hands were tucked in his pants to cover the missing fingers. his face was hardly recognizable. i never looked through the glass. i decided to preserve his face filled with calm when i met him on that afternoon.

i went home early that night. i was desperate to convince myself about the incident when somebody knocked at our door. when i opened it, nobody was present aside from an indian mango fruit on the floor.
it was 9pm.

jay-ar's story, together with other interesting scary tales scared the bejesus out of jessica zafra that she gave away alexandra trese comic books as prizes.

thanks jessica!

wear peliCan, help the gulf restoration

here's how you can help some the people and organizations doing their restoration project of the deepwater horizon oil spill:

peliCAN, a Gulf Coast relief tee
by Frederik Wepener and Ross Zietz
A couple weeks ago, we reached out to our own art director (and Baton Rouge native), Ross Zietz, to collaborate on "PeliCAN" along with Threadless member Frederek Wepener. All proceeds from the sale of "PeliCAN" will be donated to Gulf Restoration Network. The ink was graciously donated by Sharprint and both designers donated their payment as well.
Ross Zietz: "Hearing the sadness in the voices from all my friends and family back home plus seeing all the depressing but very real images on the news and web, I just really wanted to do something about this nasty disaster."
Frederik Wepener: "Having spent my summers [on the coast of South Africa] as a boy, I can only imagine how I would feel if something similar struck the place I hold so dear."

nature's iconoclasm

MONROE, Ohio – A six-story statue of Jesus Christ was struck by lightning and burned to the ground, leaving only a blackened steel skeleton and pieces of foam that were scooped up by curious onlookers Tuesday.

The "King of Kings" statue, one of southwest Ohio's most familiar landmarks, had stood since 2004 at the evangelical Solid Rock Church along Interstate 75 in Monroe, just north of Cincinnati.

the religious sectors from the place said that they plan to build a new fireproof version of this one in 3 days.

kidding.

Graduate Classes Online

Thanks to Gretchen Miller for the guest post

Online college classes have been very valuable to me. During my graduate program, I had three small children and there was not any family support available to me. Thus, my options were extremely limited. Child care was too expensive, and I was in a new town. Many people use family and friends; however, neither of these were feasible for my situation.

I decided to try and find satalite internet in Michigan so that I could take an online class in my more rural area. I first looked up hughesnet pricing on www.satellitestarinternet.com, and found a great deal that was exactly what I needed. In my little apartment, the satellite internet connection made it possible for me to take classes online. My first class online was a finance class. The instructor had a very detailed syllabus, and class room interaction was good. Although I was not in a physical class, the instructor made every effort to keep us connected. Discussions online took place several times per week. In addition, I still had flexibility. This was important because of my children. I could choose times that were convenient for me.

Once the children were sleeping, I could log onto the online class. Assignments were posted; thus, I had a clear idea of what was expected. The instructor was good about responding quickly; therefore, my questions were answered promptly. Without the option of online classes, I would not have been able to pursue my college degree. I ended up doing very well in my finance class. The internet afforded me an opportunity to better my family's life. After two years, I graduated with a master's degree in management. I took 90% of my classes via online courses.

chasing the summer sun at myrtle beach

since summer crawls like a tortoise in this side of the country, me and my friends decide to embark on a quest to check out the available list of myrtle beach best hotels out there. of course, the initial step towards a successful summer vacation is to find a decent, hospitable, comfortable, accommodating, and affordable myrtle beach hotel. to plan worthwhile outdoor and indoor activities should be next on the list.

some things we do for love

you have underestimated me.
i love you more than i fear them.

to customize is the way

if your computer experience occasional random visits of blackouts and blue screens, then fret not. you have lots of options to prevent these uninvited visitors from coming. nowadays, having your own custom computer and custom laptop can help resolve your problems.

lately, i have considered checking out custom laptops and custom computers to meet my specific needs. since i do lots of graphics editing and post processing of photos, i intend to get a custom laptop or desktop that can house all the components that i want for my computer’s hardcore computing needs.

pre-built laptops and computers sold out in the general market today may have great specs but they may not also possess the specific parts and functions that you want for your computer. the possibility of having your computers customized opened many doors and opportunities for those people who use their computers in a hardcore serious kind of way.

there are lots of options to upgrade and customize your computer system. one is thru howardcomputers.com from their website, you can see and customize your laptop and desktop computers according to your needs in a reasonable price. with customizing your own computer, you are now presented with the power to create a machine that will help you maximize your work and computing capabilities. no more blue screens and blackouts for you.

just chew it like a bubble gum

as our lips make love, my tongue searches for that sweet taste that has long escaped our occasional sensual sparring. my mouth catches that breath that used to breathe and chase mine whenever they meet.

as our lips make love in the highly constructed world of my subconscious, i feel the steam of my repressed desires rise in response with yours, forming cumulonimbus clouds of lust and passion. my hands reach for yours to trace the continuously sketching lines on your palms and to feel the throbbing of your heart through your veins.

as our lips perform the circus act of locking and unlocking, the pulsating visions of the past and the distant future floods my mind. i am seeing visions of union, you and me as one sexual entity that shouts boldness and screams passion.

years have passed but the immortality of your presence is once again dominating my senses.
as our lips are slowly gaining back their spiritual connection, our bodies are being shrouded by the impression that nothing can stop this seemingly perpetual state of bliss but divine intervention.

as we exhale trains of random vowels only interrupted by a beat, my body and soul are boiling with desires to possess you.

o. a. u. u. a. a. a. a. a. a. a. a. a. a. u. o. o. o. a. o . u.

“lizin ebribadi! jesus is the savior! jesus is the savior! no to premarital sex! no to premarital sex!”

screams the african american lady that broke the spell or morpheus. she wears a red hat and screams at the top her lungs during the early morning train ride to union station.

guffaw

photo of niccolo. (my sister's good buddy) taken one weekend when we decided to give our skin some good old sun baking

today, i am soaked and wet, dripping with ideas- vague, abstract ideas that fall uninvited on my path, leaving traces of liquid mirrors that will make your face look postmodern when you dare to give it a look.

i think my head needs some serious sun (and probably moon) baking.

uninvited from the sands of time

there’s nothing grand and epic about my prince of persia experience but nonetheless, i enjoyed it. it was like the pirates of the carribean desert style. the oriental and western influences of the musical score made the chase and fight scenes more engaging. dastan (jake gyllenhaal) and tamina’s (gemma arterton) chemistry creates romantic and subtle sexual sparks that work. the graphics of course is for the win. this is a visual treat for kids and kids at heart.

aside from the unusual british english accent of the characters, what bothered me most is the resemblance in many levels of gemma arterton to that lady who raided and possessed my senses a few years ago. the eyes, the fair skin, the lips, the voice, that goddamn virginal voice that can be commanding at will, summons the memories of the long erased memory of that lady.

since i saw miss gemma from the latest clash of the titans movie as io the woman cursed with agelessness, boy i was stupefied. it was like the first time i saw that lady way back in college. all things seemed to stop and my vision zooms in to focus on her- the motions of her hair strands, the grace of her walk, the piercing threats of her eyes, and the deceiving semi-smile that will lure any curious heart to her trap.

although gemma artenton gave me a parade of unsolicited memories, i still like her. i like how her characters from clash of the titans and prince of persia died and then resurrected afterwards. i like the irony of her aura. she is one fine actress who can pull off a weak virginal damsel but can also be a fierce and sexy fighter at the same time.

friend nene expressed her interest in setting up her small business online. as a curious first time entrepreneur who wanted to venture in marketing and business management on the web, she inquired to me about managed hosting solutions, dedicated server hosting and colocation services.

it’s a really small world after all

when teacher abi taught us about polyglots, my flame of enthusiasm about various languages around the world was started. i was fascinated about the etymologies, the culture, the dynamics, and the power of learning the various languages around the planet. having the power of language at your hands yields great powers. although it sounds cool, this, of course, is not an easy thing to do. it requires a huge amount of effort to learn and utilize the languages. so, if a one should decide to provide professional translation services, that person should be well equipped with all the necessary skills to do so.

these days, in the advent of many technological advancements and the dominant culture of globalization, it has become inevitable for many people to seek language translation services. individuals, companies and corporations who seek to communicate their medium in the international community may seek language translation service from companies who can provide hem high end professional translation. thanks to the internet, translia.com was born.

translia.com provides translation service to anyone regarding any subject, any language, and any word count of any medium and file format. sounds great eh? wait till you check out their easy to navigate site. it is a one stop translation spot that can provide you quick service anytime and anywhere around the globe. i think there is a great team of polyglots and geniuses around the globe behind this site. check it out. it is made of awesomeness that can really make the world smaller after all.
