there was once a barcoded beast who rented my heart with hypoglycemic smiles and nurtured me with sporadic ounces of happiness. the beast used to place me on pedestals, labeling me as a demigod, expecting me to multiply fishes, turn water into wine, and bring back the dead to life. devoid of powers from the heavens, i failed the expectations. i was never omnipresent, never omnipotent and not even omniscient.
then, without any reason, the creature left. like a zebra in the wild, it ran away, far away, but not far enough from me to hide the stripes of its body.
