the afghan war diaries

today is my earlier than usual wake up day. saw this on the local news at around 5 in the morning and voila! an online expose and a chance for the public to peek and delve deeper into the diaries of the various individuals and personalities involved in the war at afghanistan.

leaked from wikileak:

The Afghan War Diary an extraordinary secret compendium of over 91,000 reports covering the war in Afghanistan from 2004 to 2010. The reports describe the majority of lethal military actions involving the United States military. They include the number of persons internally stated to be killed, wounded, or detained during each action, together with the precise geographical location of each event, and the military units involved and major weapon systems used.
The significance of this material is both the overarching context, in that it covers the entire war since 2004, and invidividual events, which are also significant, or a thread of events. Now this included something like task force 373, a US assassination squad that goes round Afghanistan killing people on a 'kill and capture' list. -guardian.co.uk's excerpt from a video interview with wikileaks founder julian assange
